Pros:
1. Affordable parking fees (around $5.00 per day for outsiders and only $1.00 for residents)
2. Hotels and Motels are few feet away from the shore.
3. Ideal for families
4. Safe/Less crime (security enforcers and police are everywhere)
5. Different water activities like parasailing, dolphin watching, boat riding, etc.
6. Free concerts on most occasions.
Cons:
1. Overcrowded during peak season (mid-summer)
2. Not an ideal place for singles.
3. Night life usually ends at 2:00am.
Recommended Parking Areas:
1. Metered parking - Can be found mostly everywhere (make sure that you park properly to avoid parking tickets).
2. Outside parking lots - 19th street parking is recommended because it's in the center area of the beach. Costs are around $5.00 for outsiders (note: noon parking cost more than afternoon or night parking) and only $1.00 for residents.
3. Garage parking - 31st is recommended because it's just across Hilton's Hotel, Bank of America, 31st Street Park (usually popular free concerts are held), Starbucks, and more. 9th street is also a good place to park if you are planning to eat in the restaurant chain in the south side. Costs are around $5.00 for outsiders and $1.00 for residents.
Restrooms:
1. Public Restrooms - 17th, 24th, and 30th streets
2. Portable Restrooms - There are 3 or more arrays of portable restrooms along the shore.
